Knowing You Reveals Who and What I Am Today

A student's lovely ode to her alma mater speaks volumes about the quality of learning she's had.

Some people tagged you as an International School, for meeting you is like taking a trip to a foreign land, wherein you get to meet different kinds of people with various norms, cultures, beliefs and faiths, from numerous denominations and nationalities. You had once undergone and successfully passed an IOS (International Organization for Standardization) evaluation, duly conducted by accredited agency. You certainly live to what people expect of you, for your core values of training students for service in this world and the world to come have faithfully reached its its centennial existence in 2017. You are named Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP), which originally started as an academy (high school) in 1917. You have fully and successfully implemented all the essential requirements mandated by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for a hundred and one years now.

The ever multiplying number of PUC enrollment has inspired the administration to purchase yet a bigger property which comprises 165 hectares of land located at Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite in 1972. The same missionary spirit that inspired the pioneers in the past has stimulated the administrators, faculty and students to work hard, sacrifice time, energy and effort; leaving behind the conveniences of life in the city just to move to the new PUC ‘mountain’ location. The year 1979 saw the first batch of freshmen and sophomore students in this new campus and, in 1981, with the movement of the juniors and seniors from Baesa, the campus transfer was completed.

I am student by heart, for I do learn new things, every day as I interact with people in your domain. I am one of the alumni members worldwide, who’s more than grateful for the superb training and selfless dedication of the teachers and the instructional programs which definitely contribute to my productive years in my chosen field. I was once an emergent scholar who might had struggled with the rules and standard of the university, yet I am proud to say that victory was gained along the way through unwavering perseverance and undoubting faith in Jesus. I am an ordinary person with extraordinary experiences inside AUP, which I will never trade for anything in this world. I might be an immigrant to the millenial world, yet I am more than willing to adjust, to be reoriented, to be trained, and to be sent as a missionary, for I carry Jesus in my heart as AUP keeps on reminding me of His great love and sacrifice for humanity. I am born and raised in AUP, and it is my honor to tell the world that my training since kinder up to my post graduate studies is sustainably adequate for me to go and serve God’s people for eternity. I am who and what I am today, ultimately because I have come to meet and know God at the Adventist University of the Philippines .
